From 2010 to 2014, KEEP partnered with Apne Aap (self help in Hindi), a non-profit dedicated to eradicating sex trafficking in India. Apne Aap enables women and girls to form self-empowerment groups that transform both themselves and their communities.
KEEP funded after-school programs which provided tutoring, English language instruction, medical care, and non-formal education – including sewing, self-defense, nutrition, self-advocacy and life skills workshops.
KEEP also established a penpal program between local girls and girls in India. A labor of love that involved a dedicated team of volunteer translators, the letters not only fostered personal relationships, but also served as a catalyst for broader global understanding and perspective.
